A year-long leadership and mentorship program that supports collegiate women of color through personal growth, professional development, community, and transformative opportunities for success.

JEMS

A mentorship and enrichment program designed to empower middle and high school girls through confidence-building, leadership development, future readiness, and meaningful sisterhood.

About Bridge Every Gap

SHE Scholars

The SHE Scholars Program is a transformational leadership and wellness initiative designed for collegiate women of color ages 18-24. Through mentorship, community, leadership development, and holistic wellness experiences, SHE Scholars gain the support, resources, and network needed to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.

Selected scholars receive sponsorship to attend the annual SHE Retreat and participate in a year-long experience focused on growth, empowerment, service, and meaningful cross-generational connections.


What Scholars Receive

Annual SHE Retreat Experience

A fully immersive wellness and leadership retreat designed to help scholars rest, reflect, connect, and grow.

Ongoing Mentorship

Access to individual and group mentorship opportunities with accomplished women committed to supporting your journey.

Leadership Development

Workshops, enrichment experiences, networking opportunities, and skill-building sessions throughout the year.

Community & Sisterhood

A supportive network of fellow scholars, mentors, and SHE alumni who encourage and uplift one another.

Personal & Professional Growth

Opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills, wellness practices, and community engagement.



Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

✓ Be a woman-identifying college student between the ages of 18-24

✓ Not currently be enrolled in high school

✓ Submit a completed application

✓ Participate in a 15-minute interview

✓ Commit to attending the full SHE Retreat (March 19-22, 2026)

✓ Participate in all required SHE Scholars activities throughout the year


The SHE Scholar Journey

Step 1: Apply

Submit your completed application by January 31st at 11:59 p.m.

Step 2: Interview

Participate in a brief 15-minute interview with the SHE team.

Step 3: Acceptance

Selected applicants will receive an official invitation to join the SHE Scholars cohort.

Step 4: Retreat Experience

Attend the annual SHE Retreat and begin your scholar journey.

Step 5: Year-Round Engagement

Participate in mentorship, leadership development, service opportunities, and community-building experiences throughout the year.


Year 1 Scholar Experience

Scholar Responsibilities

As a Year 1 SHE Scholar, you agree to:

  • Attend the annual SHE Retreat in its entirety
  • Cover your own transportation costs to and from the retreat
  • Participate in monthly virtual engagement sessions
  • Communicate proactively regarding conflicts or absences
  • Remain active within the SHE community throughout the year

Community Engagement Expectations

  • Participate in local meetups when available
  • Engage in service projects
  • Support fundraising initiatives
  • Remain active in the GroupMe community
  • Follow and engage with Bridge Every Gap social media platforms
  • Participate in mentorship opportunities and networking events

Monthly Scholar Check-Ins

Monthly virtual engagement sessions provide:

  • Leadership development
  • Wellness support
  • Mentorship conversations
  • Goal accountability
  • Networking opportunities
  • Community building

Attendance is required with no more than three excused absences annually.



Year 2 Scholar Experience

Leadership Expansion

In addition to Year 1 responsibilities, Year 2 Scholars:

  • Serve as an UPLIFT Mentor
  • Facilitate a presentation for:
    • SHE Retreat participants
    • JEMS participants
    • Fellow SHE Scholars
  • Become eligible to apply for the Service Abroad Program
    (limited to 8 scholars annually)



Year 3 Scholar Experience

Community Leadership

In addition to previous responsibilities, Year 3 Scholars:

  • Host a scholar connection event in their local community or region
  • Participate in interviews for future scholar cohorts
  • Continue serving as a mentor and leader within the SHE community
  • Remain eligible for the Service Abroad Program


Scholar Renewal Pathway

Scholars may participate in the program for up to three years.

At the end of each program year, scholars may:

Renew Their Membership

Continue advancing through the program and unlocking expanded leadership opportunities.

Transition to SHE Alumni Status

Remain connected to the community while serving as ambassadors, supporters, mentors, and advocates for future scholars.


Program Investment

Total Annual Cost Per Scholar

$1,500

Cost Breakdown


SHE Retreat Experience — $850

Includes:

  • Lodging
  • Meals
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Activities and experiences
  • Program materials
  • SHE retreat gifts and swag


Year-Round Scholar Enrichment — $650

Includes:

  • Monthly engagement sessions
  • Leadership development programming
  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Networking experiences
  • Scholar care packages
  • Community-building activities

Transportation to and from the retreat is not included and remains the responsibility of the scholar.


Scholar Success Criteria

To remain in good standing, scholars should:

✓ Complete annual program evaluations

✓ Attend monthly virtual sessions

✓ Actively engage in mentorship opportunities

✓ Participate in community-building activities

✓ Stay connected through SHE communication platforms

✓ Contribute positively to the growth and culture of the SHE community

Scholar's Application

JEMS: Jewels of Excellence, Mentorship & Sisterhood

The JEMS Program is a transformative initiative by Bridge Every Gap designed to empower middle and high school girls through mentorship, leadership development, enrichment, and sisterhood. JEMS serves as a pipeline of empowerment, intentionally nurturing girls into confident, equipped, and purpose-driven young women prepared to transition into SHE Scholars and beyond.

Through engaging experiences, meaningful mentorship, and a supportive community, participants gain the tools, confidence, and connections needed to thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Program Components


Part 1: JEMS Virtual Summer Camp

June/July | 3 Weeks

An interactive virtual experience designed to inspire growth, connection, and learning during the summer months through engaging workshops, discussions, and enrichment activities.

Part 2: JEMS Enrichment Series

September – February | 6 Months

A monthly enrichment experience providing continued mentorship, skill-building opportunities, leadership development, and community engagement throughout the school year.

Optional JEMS Retreat Experience

JEMS participants have the opportunity to participate in the dedicated JEMS track during the annual SHE Experience Retreat, connecting with peers, mentors, and women leaders across generations.

🟣 Middle School Track: CARE

Designed to support girls as they navigate the foundational years of adolescence through:

  • Identity and self-esteem development
  • Friendship and social navigation
  • Emotional awareness and wellness
  • Introduction to time management and goal setting

🔵 High School Track: FOUNDATIONS

Focused on preparing young women for life beyond high school through:

  • College and career readiness
  • Leadership development and public speaking
  • Financial literacy
  • Entrepreneurship exposure
  • Goal setting and future planning

Eligibility

Eligible participants are middle and high school girls who:

  1. Are currently enrolled in middle or high school
  2. Submit a completed application
  3. Participate in a brief interview if requested
  4. Commit to active participation in the summer camp and/or enrichment series
  5. Demonstrate a willingness to learn, grow, and engage in the JEMS community
